AUGUST 2016 Last weekend in Logan before moving back home.

Sunday I went to church. Everyone in the ward wore dark blue ribbons. Mary Yohem had set it up... OH MY HECK I LOVE HER SO MUCH. I’ll talk about her in a minute. :) They knew I was moving home and that it was my last Sunday.

I got the opportunity to bless and serve the Sacrament that day. What a neat opportunity to be able to do it on my last Sunday. :]

After the third hour lesson, Mary, Bronte, and a few others called me up, explained what was up with me and gave me a nice shoutout, and presented me with a loving sign that a lot of the ward had signed. :’) So touched. I remember back in the spring when I was in the 31st ward (the ward I was in at Pine View), I knew I’d be moving back in the fall and talked with the Bishop and there was an idea that I could just keep my records in the ward for that summer, but I eventually decided to just move my records to the 18th ward, where I would be at with Yellow House and Darwin Avenue. Which was a good move. It would have been weirder and harder and more awkward if I would’ve not been in the ward. AND THE 18th WARD WAS SOOOOOOOOOO AWESOME AND SO INCREDIBLE. And living on Darwin Avenue in general? Ahh. Seriously. Perfect place.

That's all for my journaling tonight! Glad I'm doing this, I don't want these insights to be forgotten. Especially because these insights and these feelings I've felt are SO real, and there is no way I can deny the truthfulness of the gospel the Savior, everything about the gospel. Goodnight, journal. SOO glad I'm writing down my thoughts. :)

Summer!

Summer adventures: This summer was SO. MUCH. FUN. I feel like I made friends with so many people this summer. And I feel like making friends has come super easy to me. I hung out with Janice Call and Megan Solomon a lot. I also hung out with Kelsie- she taught me how to make cinnamon rolls one night. I also hung out with Jenna Dey and Isabel Truax and Lexi Hopkin- Oh man, I felt like a middle schooler again, Lexi and I sort of liked each other and I feel like it was a lot of back-and-forth games between the two of us! Bother, bother, bother. Oh well. We went camping one night, and then the next morning went cliff jumping at Porcupine Reservoir, and that’s when I realized that Lexi had a thing for me. :P

Other summer adventures: Huntsman Hall. Favorite lookout spot: The LLC- overlooks the whole valley- and about a two minute walk from Yellow House. Janice and I went scootering one night through the parking garage. IT WAS SOOOO FUN!

Werewolves

I live in an apartment complex called PineView.  Size-wise, it's a lot smaller that T-Bird, but I don't mind it because it tends to make us a little more social.  You go inside the building, and then from inside to the apartment, so everyone (kind of) leaves their doors open; it's a really social place.

I love Logan!  The more time I live here the more convinced I am that this town was made for me!!!  Seriously, I always thought Kelsie was just talking it up, but it really is great.  Especially for my personality.  Cedar is great, but it is a lot more laid back. Logan is really social.  I think the difference is that a lot of people around here are not from here in Logan, but from other places.  So people kind of have to be more outgoing. I feel like I'm really thriving here.  I've made lots of friends.  And I love meeting new people around here.  Janice and Jessica are probably my friends here in Pine View.  But honestly I feel like I am friends with almost everyone here.  My roommates call me the social one and they also ask me who people in the building are cause I know just about everyone.  :)  Capris, my awesome next door neighbor, gave me a compliment just a few weeks ago.  She said, "Erik, one time Alex and I (or maybe someone else...) asked ourselves, 'how did we get to become such good friends?' And I said, Erik. He is always the one inviting people and bringing people together.' Erik, you are like a glue!"  And I thought that was really nice.  And another girl, Annie, told me that she became good friends with Abby across the building because of a thing I invited them both to.

I just like people!  In fact, I bought the game "Werewolves" last semester, probably about Sept/Oct.  We've played it quite a bit and I've gotten pretty good at narrating.  It's super fun.  We've actually started playing it weekly.  Sunday nights, after ward prayer. It's a tradition now!

Journal Gems: Yellow House

Yellow House was definitely where I needed to be in the summer (Logan 2016). I convinced Ryan Wood to be my roommate, so we shared a room. The house was awesome, and Ryan and I got the tiny room downstairs, but there are four rooms and eight guys, one shower, two bathrooms, two fridges, but the living room and backyard COMPLETELY made up for the smallness of the room Ryan and I shared. Live in a small space? Again, cross it off the bucket list. We had a big tire swing on a tree in the backyard, and if you looked out the window just right, you could see THE TEMPLE! My roommates: Ryan Wood, Josh Snyder, Matt Soelberg, Danny Fullmer, Hank Costner, Jordan Cline, and Kody Sanchez. Great, great guys to live with.

I switched wards, too. Yellow House is on Darwin Avenue, literally next to the Institute building. So I got to walk to Church- 15 seconds. The 18th Ward was definitely something else. Our ward consisted of all the houses on Darwin Avenue. I also got a calling to be a Home Teaching District Coordinator- basically, be in charge of half the Elder’s Quorum and remind them to do their Home Teaching. It was a little crazy for me but it helped me grow. It was especially crazy at the end of the month!
